FIRST - CATCH YOUR DRAGON

FIRST - CATCH YOUR DRAGON

We don't know who took this picture
but, whoever it was, congratulations are due.
The beautiful little creature is real even if the smoke is probably not.

Draco Volans. It is called a flying lizard because - of course - it is able to fly.
Flying Dragons live in Borneo, India, Asia, and the Philippine islands, favouring a forest habitat.
Anyone interested in dragons is welcome to send us a drawing or photograph of their favourite fiery beast.
I have always loved dragons and could hardly believe it when I found they really existed in real life -
even if they are a bit smaller than you might expect.

And how about sending us your own adventures?

Some of you may find this interesting: I have a good friend who builds model steam boats
 - accurately and to scale -by hand. Here is one of his creations enjoying a trip along the river.

.
and here, below, is his later model. All handmade and with a crew of four..
I hope to be able to add more details about them in  the future.

These boats are radio controlled, but sometimes they can get stuck and refuse to come back when called.
On a recent visit to us, my friend brought this second boat to a nearby lake to sail it for our enjoyment. Of course the boat got stuck on the opposite bank. The bank proved to be on an island with no access. There was only one thing to do. My friend attracted a few interested onlookers as he was forced to remove his outer clothes, dive into the murky water and swim over to rescue his craft. He brought it back safe and sound but climbed out dripping wet and covered in clay and pond weed. Luckily it was a hot day.

And now, back to the quiet, magical world of Dylan and Red Tabby.....after all their recent excitements, visiting Hollywood and so on, our two stars were grateful to return to the peace of Great Park..... Safe home now, after their last adventures, they are glad to be among friends, enjoying the summer weather. Here are some of the special hills they gallop over. Their latest adventure is at present with its pioneer readers: Martha, Grace, Charlotte, James and Heidi. It is also with our illustrator, also named Charlotte. As soon as we are able, we'll tell you when 'Under the Rainbow' is likely to be published. Meanwhile, Happy holidays.
